Between a pandemic living experience and holiday weekend, a person might feel less guilt over the concept of sitting down to watch “old movies.” Currently viewing Jimmy Spader in Jack’s Back, I couldn’t help but notice the music over the opening credits was waaaaayyyy too 80s. Well, maybe not “too 80s” so much as typifying of the late 80s low budget fare. Obviously the keyboards, but the heavily reverbed vocals, the chorused guitar, etc. Hearing it at the end of 2020, my thought was that this music production was clearly “the same” as most of the popular music, but seemingly over-the-top as compared to what was on the radio & MTV.
